Specscart Urmston opened to the general public on 5th March, 2022. A grand opening was organised, and the turnout too was spectacular. Amazing arrangements were made to keep the visitors entertained and keep the fun going.
Along with the launch of Specscart Urmston, Specscart has also launched its new collection. They will not only be available in this store, but across all stores and also over their e-commerce segment.

Specscart’s Story
The story of Specscart is really an interesting one. It is also the story of a young immigrant entrepreneur, Sid Sethi - the founder of Specscart. So, let’s get straight into the story.
Birth of the idea
What do you do when you break your only pair of prescription glasses and have your exams scheduled to begin the next day? Sid Sethi, a student in the University of Manchester, was in the same fix. Just like what each one of us in this situation would do, he too rushed to buy an emergency pair of prescription glasses.
After searching for a pair in some of the most popular glasses stores in Manchester, he was left with a very disappointing shopping experience. Unreasonably expensive prices, glasses locked behind thick glass panes and a high turnaround time - these were the problems that Sid had identified. And this is how the idea of Specscart was born. Specscart would be solving these problems for the customers.
Do you know how Specscart’s one-of-a-kind service of free 24 hour dispatch came into being? The pair of glasses that Sid had ordered that day arrived way after his exams were over.
Transformation of the idea into reality
At a business award - Albert Gubay Enterprise Award, 2017 - Sid pitched the idea of Specscart, and was declared the winner. The award included prize money and a rent-free retail space in Walkden. From here, Specscart launched its first store.
In 2018, Specscart expanded its presence further in Manchester, with its second store going live in Bury. Bury is where Specscart’s state-of-the-art lab is located, which houses modern-day machinery for glazing of lenses. It is also the headquarters of Specscart.
In early 2021, the inaugural store of Specscart was shifted to a different location in the same shopping complex. The major difference was that this was a four times larger retail space, and highly revamped from its previous version.
And just a few days back - on 5th March, 2022 - Specscart Urmston (the third Specscart store) opened its gates for customers.
